DescriptionThe Cincinnatus Nonpartisan Movement, also known as the Order of Cincinnatus, was founded in 1933 by Seattle attorney Ralph Potts. It was a conservative reform group made up mostly of middle-class professionals, and sought to rid Seattle government of corruption and its ties to organized labor and other radical interests during the Depression.

The most successful Cincinnatus member was Arthur Langlie, who, with the endorsement of the organization, was elected to the Seattle City Council and later mayor. He won three terms as governor of Washington with the Republican Party in the 1940s and 50s.
