Description | Far-left Trotskyist party and one of the first formed as a 'collective' since its foundation in 1939 as Groupe Barta, named after the nom de guerre of French-Romanian Communist, David Korner. Party was renamed Workers' Struggle in 1956. Internal chaos undermined the party for decades due to its insistence on collective leadership. A decision was collectively made to elect a party leader, of a kind, in 2008. The 'leader' chosen was Nathalie Arthaud, who calls herself a 'spokespeople.' Party presented two lists under the Lutte Ouvrière acronym LO ahead of the June 9, 2024 federal elections; one in Hainaut and, for the first time, one in Brussels [Lutte Ouvrière/Arbeidersstrijd (LO)]. |
