| Description | Center-right populist party launched by billionaire businessman and Czech Prime Minister since December 6, 2017 Andrej Babiš. Party was founded as YES - Actions of Dissatisfied Citizens (Akce nespokojených občanů or ANO) in 2011 with the promise to battle "a tangle of corruption, clientelism and abuse of state-owned companies" in Czechia. ANO performed well in the 2013 parliamentary election, winding up just three seats behind the leading Czech Social Democratic Party (ČSSD). Babiš was subsequently appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance by Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka in 2014. ANO's success in 2013 presaged a parliamentary victory and government control in 2017, becoming Czechia's leading party. ANO 2011 changed its motto thereon to "YES - It will be Better" (Ano - bude líp) in anticipation of parliamentary elections held on October 8-9, 2021. |
