Description | Аграрная партия России
Agrarnaya partiya Rossii
Left-wing agrarian party, often allied with the Communist Party in early Duma convocations. They have not participated in any presidential elections, but one of their members, Nikolai Kharitonov, ran under the Communist Party in the 2004 election, placing second to Vladimir Putin.
In recent years the APR has become increasingly close to United Russia, starting with an electoral alliance with United Russia's predecessor, Fatherland-All Russia, in the 1999 Duma elections. The APR had some local success in subsequent elections but scored few victories at the national level. They were an early endorser of Dmitry Medvedev in the 2008 presidential elections and in late 2008 officially merged into United Russia. |
