| Description | South Tyrol-nativist and self-described "liberal-patriotic" party led and launched by long-time landtag MP (31 years) Eva Klotz (South Tyrol uses the Germanic 'landtag' to describe its state assembly). Klotz split from the Citizens' Union for South Tyrol in 2007 after it re-branded itself a centrist party, distancing itself from separatism. South Tyrolean Freedom seeks not only South Tyrol's succession from Italy but union with Austria's Tyrol, asking for a regional referendum to decide the issue. Party at first used the Austrian flag as background in its logos and promoted the slogan "South Tyrol is not Italy." Party holds two seats in the Landtag of South Tyrol. The current chairman of the political group is Sven Knoll [Süd-Tiroler Freiheit (STF)]. |
