Description | Right-of-center party that was launched as the Action Committee 5/6ths Pensions for Everyone (Aktiounskomitee 5/6 Pensioun fir jiddfereen) in support of a demonstration in Luxembourg City on March 28, 1987, held to protest the high salaries, job security and high pensions enjoyed by civil servants compared to that received by everyone else. Party subsequently decided to establish itself as plainly single-issue, changing its name to the Action Committee for Democracy and Pensions Justice' (Aktiounskomitee fir Demokratie an Rentengerechtigkeet) on November 22, 1992. Lack of success at the polls forced it to change its name again on April 2, 2006 to the present day 'Alternative Democratic Reform Party' (Alternativ Demokratesch Reformpartei).Party expanded its program to include the aim of transforming Luxembourg into a neutral, Swiss-type system, promote economic liberalism and the Luxembourgish language as an official language of the EU. Party gained a lot of ground under the leadership of Jean Schoos until his retirement. Party has been led by MP Fred Keup since March 20, 2022. Party has four seats in the 60-seat Chamber of Deputies [Alternativ Demokratesch Reformpartei (ADR)]. |
