Description | The Marxist-Leninist ruling party of the Soviet Union. It was led in succession by Joseph Stalin, Georgy Malenkov, Nikita Khrushchev, Leonid Brezhnev, Yury Andropov, Konstantin Chernenko, and Mikhail Gorbachev. Its activities were suspended on 23 August 1991 and it was finally banned on 6 November 1991. Its de facto successor is the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. |
