| Description | Social Credit-National Unity was the label used by Harry Watson Arnold when he ran in the 1940 federal election in Canada. Arnold ran in the riding of Saskatoon City. Arnold had been a Social Credit Party of Canada candidate in the 1935 election.
While, in 1940, most Social Credit candidates ran under the name New Democracy, Watson used the "Social Credit-National Unity" label. It is unclear if this is simply because he disagreed with the "New Democracy" platform, or because he was a supporter of both the social credit philosophy and the fascist National Unity Party of Adrien Arcand. (Social Credit has been accused of anti-Semitism, particularly in the 1930s and 1940s.) It is also unclear whether the Social Credit Party considered Arnold an official candidate.
