Description | Center-right party founded by Andorra's 3rd prime minister, Marc Forné i Molné (1994-2005) under the name of Unió Liberal. Unió Liberal became Andorra's dominant party, ruling uninterrupted for 11 years. In 2001, Unió Liberal changed its name to Partit Liberal d'Andorra (PLA). The PLA disappeared as a functioning, independent party after party leaders decided to unite with the Laurediana Union, the New Center and the Ordino Independents to form the Reformist Coalition, which dissolved into the Democrats for Andorra (DA) party on September 30, 2011. A group of former PLA party activists, bitter over their party's sudden decision, launched the Liberals d'Andorra as successor to the dissolved PLA in 2015, and ran in the 2015 elections. The Liberals have held three ministries since May 6, 2021 [Liberals d'Andorra (L'A)]. |
