DescriptionCenter-right, regional party and successor to the defunct Nagaland People's Council (NPC) founded by Nagaland's 9th Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. Party began to splinter beginning in 2017 when dissidents allied to Rio launched the rival Democratic Progressive Party (DPP). The DPP wound up the largest in Nagaland and lured Rio to join them on January 16, 2018. Rio subsequently became Nagaland's Chief Minister for a second time. Nagaland's 10th Chief Minister, T. R. Zeliang, took Rio's place as party president until resigning on April 29, 2022.
