| Description | Reformist, Islamic-Liberal party founded by Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, who held office as Iran's President from 1997 to 2005. Party's first Congress was held in August 2014 and Ali Shakuri Rad was elected as its secretary general and leader. Etehad Mehlat had difficulty registering itself as a lawful party due to strong opposition from fundamentalists and faced continued attempts to dissolve it. Members of the party were, in effect, operating underground, and only until after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in 2024 have they re-emerged openly [حزب اتحاد ملت ایران اسلامی
