Description | Center-left to left-wing "green" movement formerly known as the Europe Ecology - The Greens (Europe Écologie - les Verts, EELV) founded on November 13, 2010. The EELV was rebranded after a merger was effected with the New Democrats (Les Nouveaux Démocrates, LND) on October 16, 2022. New movement was formally launched as "Les Écologists" on October 14, 2023 by Marine Tondelier, who became its National Secretary (Tondelier was President of EELV effective December 10, 2022), and declared itself "a new political force more eco-friendly than EELV." Movement co-launched the New Popular Front (Nouveau Front populaire, NFP) on June 10, 2024 with four other 'anchor' parties and leads a constituent of environmentalist parties within an agreed-upon distribution framework ahead of legislative elections scheduled for June 30 and July 7, 2024 [Les Écologistes (LE)]. |
