Description | Center-right party which rebranded itself "The Conservatives" (De Konservative) on August 24, 2000. Though many decades in the opposition since its formation, The Conservatives reached their highest level of support in 1968, taking 37 seats in the 179-seat Folketing. Party subsequently collapsed in popularity under the leadership of Lars Barfoed, becoming the legislature's smallest, with 6 seats in 2015. Party has seen its fortunes rise since former Justice Minister and Mayor of Viborg Søren Pape Poulsen was elected its leader, climbing to its present-day 13 seats. Party joined the coalition government in November 28, 2016 led by Venstre leader Lars Løkke Rasmussen III, and has been in opposition since the coalition dissolved on June 27, 2019 [Det Konservative Folkeparti (DKF), now De Konservative (C or DK) since August 24, 2000]. |
