| Description | Re-establishment of the left-of-center Azerbaijan Justice Party (Adalat) dissolved upon merger with the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) in 1996. Former Adalat members, led by the Adalat's founder, former Minister of Justice Ilyas Ismayilov, grew unhappy with the merger and, in 2000, left ADP and resumed the party's activities. Ismayilov returned as party leader on July 2, 2001 and renamed the Azerbaijan Justice Party the "Justice Party" and registered it on May 18, 2002 [Ədalət Partiyası (AP or Adalat)]. |
