Party began as the anti-British Partai Ra'ayat, but remained a fringe party in parliamentary politics and Boestamam was removed as party leader in 1965 by a revolt led by Moslem activist Kassim Ahmad, who renamed the party Parti Sosialis Rakyat Malaysia. Boestamam's son, Rustam Sani would later take over the party after Kassim Ahmad was imprisoned by Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed. Party is currently led by Ariffin Salimon [Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM); 馬來西亞人民黨; ڤرتي رعيت مليسيا] |
