Center-left party founded by ex Costa Rica president Luis Guillermo Solís. Solís broke the dual political dominance of the National Liberation and Social Christian Unity parties upon his ascent to the presidency in 2014, and saw through a continuation of Citizens' Action rule in 2018 under President Carlos Alvarado Quesada (since May 8, 2018). Party subscribes to the postulates of Christian democracy, which aspires to bring about a democracy derived from Christian philosophical principles. Party is led by professor and anti-sexual harassment prosecutor Marta Eugenia Solano Arias [Partido Acción Ciudadana (PAC); Citizen Action Party].
