| Description | Association of the Greek Community in Hungary. The Greek population amounts to about 5,000 people. Many Greeks in Hungary trace their roots to the town of Moscopole, now in Albania. A large number of recent immigrants were political refugees from the Greek Civil War. One of 12 minority associations organized as political parties endeavoring to protect their cultural autonomy and seeking representation in Hungarian legislative bodies. Association was established on the basis of Act No. 20 of 1949 of the Constitution of the Republic of Hungary. Association is led by Hristodoulou Konstantinos [Magyarországi Görögök Országos Önkormányzata (MGOÖ)]. |
