Description | Far-left coalition of Trotskyist parties often re-named or reborn every few years. Coalition began in 1978 as an alliance of the Costa Rican Socialist Party, the
People's Revolutionary Movement and the Vanguardia Popular. The most recent incarnation is a successor to the short-lived United Left (Izquierda Unida) Coalition dissolved on September 15, 2006. Failing nationally, the coalition has attempted to pick up representation in provincial and local bodies, with limited success. For the presidential elections of 2022, a provincial party from Puntarenas was founded using the name and flag of United People. Party chose Martin Chinchilla Castro as its candidate for President in 2022 [Pueblo Unido (PU)]. |
