Description | Delegate Meshea Poore, D-Kanawha, has announced her candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Poore, who represents the 37th district, made the announcement July 9 via Twitter. She was appointed to her position in 2010 to replace Carrie Webster, who resigned. She was re-elected last fall with 88 percent of the vote. Poore has spent her time in the Legislature serving on the Energy, Industry and Labor/Economic Development and Small Business, Constitutional Revision, Health and Judiciary committees.
"Meshea has dedicated her life to serving the people of West Virginia," said Cartney McCracken, Poore's campaign spokeswoman. "As a delegate, she's developed strong, personal relationships with constituents, community leaders, legislators, labor, business and families from all walks of life across our state. She's running because they deserve a strong voice in Congress. West Virginians need someone with a proven record who has the energy it takes the tackle the tough issues and deliver solutions that families can count on." |
