Description | State Sen. Mike Flood of Norfolk, speaker of the State Legislature, launched his bid for the governor's office in 2014, pledging to cut taxes and spending, and to improve the state's roads and job training programs.
“I'm ready to do the job,” the 37-year-old Republican told about 300 supporters gathered at a conference center in his hometown on Monday night.
Flood, who leaves the Legislature at the end of the year due to term limits, said his campaign will focus on “vision, purpose and leadership.”
He becomes the second GOP candidate to announce for the seat, which will be vacated by Gov. Dave Heineman in 2014 due to term limits. |
