Description | Add Doe Fund founder George McDonald to the growing list of those considering a 2013 run for mayor.
McDonald confirmed to The Daily News late Friday that he is scheduled to have a dinner meeting with the chairmen of the GOP organizations of the five boroughs on Thursday, Aug. 16 in East Harlem.
He's already changed his party registration from Democrat to Republican as he considers mounting a campaign to succeed outgoing Mayor Bloomberg.
The Doe Fund has been lauded for its work with formerly homeless or incarcerated people, many of them recovering from addiction. But McDonald and his family have also been criticized in the past for collecting lavish salaries and perks from the non-profit's operations. |
