Description | Hoping that an early arrival will be rewarded with momentum, Missouri Sen. Brad Lager, a northwest Missouri Republican, is the first prominent member of his party to enter a newly reconfigured race for lieutenant governor.
Lager figures to be followed by other Republicans sensing fresh opportunity after the GOP’s consensus candidate for the post, Missouri House Speaker Steve Tilley, dropped out of the race unexpectedly last week.
“Missourians are tired of self-interested politicians beholden to special interests getting in the way of good government,” Lager said in a statement announcing his campaign on Monday. |
