Description | Wandering through the Liberal desert this summer, Bob Rae has suddenly stumbled across some water.
Through the capricious fates of politics, the interim Liberal leader finds himself dealing with a discredited interim NDP leader.
Instead of gasping for air while Jack Layton took all the opposition oxygen in Ottawa, Rae is now free to pummel Nycole Turmel, the interim Opposition leader with the Bloc Québécois past.
In the short term, it moves the leader of the third party into a position where his voice can be heard with Layton sidelined, particularly if the NDP leader’s cancer treatments keep him away from the resumption of the House of Commons on Sept. 19. |
