| Description | The city's Conflict of Interest Board has fined Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz $20,000 for accepting multiple free trips abroad for himself and his wife.
The board fined Markowitz for taking his wife on trips to Turkey in 2007 and 2009 and to the Netherlands in 2009, despite having been told he had to pay for her expenses.
Although Markowitz was on official business and was allowed to bill the city, his wife was not because she was not a city employee. |
