Description | Fraser-Nicola MLA Harry Lali has announced he will run as a candidate in the provincial NDP leadership race.
Lali confirmed his candidacy in Merritt this morning (January 6).
“I decided to run because I felt that the rank and file members of the NDP and the people of rural British Columbia needed a voice, and I also want to put forward a positive and progressive vision for the province, given the state of disruption of our social and economic fabric by the B.C. Liberals over the last 10 years,” Lali told the Straight by phone today.
Lali said he plans to set himself apart from other candidates by not being “the candidate of the establishment of the NDP”.
“I’m not a candidate of the establishment, so I’m not beholden to any special interest, nor to anybody in the established entities,” he said. “I’m going to put people first, and it’s high time somebody did, because nobody’s done that for a generation now.” |
