David Davis's Brokeback Mountain jibe, aimed in the general direction of the Prime Minister and his deputy, may last longer. The two men are smooth, presentable and fairly handsome, and have something of the vanilla quality that marks many modern politicians. But Davis's remark was based less on physical symmetry than ideological alignment – hence its acuity.
