Description | Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer could sue Republican legislative leaders over the Legislature not sending approved budget bills to her desk where they could be vetoed.
Brewer said Monday she wants the Legislature to transmit budget bills approved on June 4 as required by the Arizona constitution and said she could take the Legislature to court over the matter.
Some Democrats, who opposed spending cuts in the Republican-backed legislative budget, have also pushed their leadership in the state Assembly to also legally press for the budget bills to be transmitted to the governor.
Arizona Senate President Bob Burns and House Speaker Kirk Adams said they were disappointed that Brewer, also a Republican, is threatening to bring the courts into budget negotiations. |
