DescriptionProspective District 13 Dallas City Council candidate Ann Margolin just released a list of her supporters, and wow -- just about anyone who's anyone in Dallas politics is backing her candidacy.

Start with the two "honorary co-chairs" of her campaign: Current District 13 council member Mitchell Rasansky, and his predecessor, Donna Blumer.

Real estate mogul Ebby Halliday will serve as treasurer. And the finance committee chairpersons? Former Dallas County Commissioners Court Judge Lee Jackson, and former Dallas Citizens Council chairman and 2002 mayoral candidate Tom Dunning.

Former Dallas mayors Adlene Harrison, Ron Kirk and Laura Miller all serve on her advisory committee, while former Acting Mayor Mary Poss is a finance committee member.

Other notable supporters Ms. Margolin lists include former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and developer Roger Staubach, former Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Max Wells, former Dallas County Judge Margaret Keliher and more than a dozen current and former Dallas City Council members.

But Ms. Margolin, a former Dallas Park and Recreation Board and City Plan Commission member, isn't without competition.

Her lone opponent so far is Raj Narayanan, who runs an aerospace consulting firm and is actively seeking campaign donations.

On his Web site, Mr. Narayanan states that the "City Council should reflect the energy of this city, the vitality of its people, and the growth of its businesses.

"For too many years we've been mired in small minded muck, with leaders who fight over turf and who lack an understanding of the big picture," he continues. "Instead, we should promote a united vision that supports the key needs of our community and positions Dallas to be a key city in the 21st century economy."

Mr. Rasansky, who has represented northwest Dallas' District 13 for nearly eight years, will step down in June because of mandatory term limits.

The Dallas City Council's next general election is scheduled for May.
