Description | VANCOUVER -- Voters across B.C. go to the polls today to elect their local councils, and never has the battle been more bitter than in Vancouver where the new mayor will lead the city into the 2010 Olympic games.
The campaign started downhill when opponents to the left-leaning Gregor Robertson seized on the fact he had a $173 unpaid transit fine.
Then someone leaked documents from a closed-door meeting of city council where it approved a $100 million loan to the developer of the Olympic athletes village.
Both Robertson and right-leaning candidate Peter Ladner then said they would take lie-detector tests to prove they weren't responsible for the leak. |
