DescriptionBill Casey shakes hands with Win Brown outside the St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church in Springhill.

"You did a good job singing in the choir the other night," says Mr. Casey.

"You couldn’t hear me, could you?" asks Mr. Brown.

"I could hear every word," says Mr. Casey, and the two men chuckle.

A reporter asks Mr. Brown how Mr. Casey is going to do in the election.

"Well, he’s going to get a lot votes here," he says.

It seems he’s going to get all the votes here. In the church basement, 30 grey-haired parishioners sit down to share soup and sandwiches. Everybody says they’re going to vote for Mr. Casey, including Progressive Conservative MLA Murray Scott and Shirley MacTavish, who was an active Liberal from 1954 until 2007.

"He’s going to win hands down," says Ms. MacTavish. "He told the truth on the Atlantic accord, and the truth will set anybody free."
