DescriptionC.J. Prentiss, former Ohio State Senator and sorority sister of the late Stephanie Tubbs Jones, announced Wednesday she would run for the vacant 11th District Congressional seat.

Prentiss made official what she told Channel 3 News on Monday, that her years of experience in office would lead her to run for Congress.

She will run for Tubbs Jones' full term beginning in 2009 and may also run for the rest of her current term, a seat left vacant by Tubbs Jones sudden death on August 20. Prentiss is currently an education advisor to Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.

The Cuyahoga County Democratic Party must decide by September 26 who will appear as the candidate for the full term on the November ballot.
