Description | The Malaysian government has blocked access to a popular blog known for its sensational political postings, sparking complaints that the government has reneged on a pledge to keep cyberspace uncensored.
The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, the government's industry regulator, on Wednesday ordered internet service providers to shut off access to Malaysia Today.
It is believed to be the first official clampdown on a local site.
The Malaysia Today site however remains accessible through an alternative link.
An official from the commission, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the site was deemed to have broken the law, adding that a formal statement with details will be issued later. |
