DescriptionWashington Lt. Governor Brad Owen will be knighted by the King of Spain this April 2 in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. One of Owen's aides, Antonio Sanchez, will also receive the distinction.

Owen is having this distinction bestowed upon him because of the many projects he has spearheaded with Spanish interests, including obtaining the speed Spanish Talgo train for Washington state Amtrak routes, bringing Spanish art to local museums, and reaching a bilateral agreement with the Spanish Minister of Education to improve the skills and credentials of Evergreen State Spanish teachers.
