SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Democratic congressional candidate Colleen Callahan backed a Republican for Congress two years ago.
Callahan says she held a fundraiser for incumbent Ray LaHood at her farm and voted for him because of his support for central Illinois agriculture.
Callahan calls it an example of putting good government ahead of partisan differences. At a news conference Wednesday, she described herself as a strong Democrat and said LaHood's staff approached her about the fundraiser.
The former radio reporter is now running for the seat held by LaHood, who is retiring. She faces state Representative Aaron Schock of Peoria. |
