Description | WASHINGTON - Political neophyte Jamie Metzl roared out of the starting gate in his effort to unseat Rep. Karen McCarthy in the Fifth Congressional District Democratic primary.
Metzl reported raising more than $127,000 in his campaign's first three weeks, according to third-quarter fund-raising results filed with the Federal Election Commission.
"I'm very pleased by the outpouring of support I've received," Metzl said. "But I recognize this is a marathon, not a sprint, and we've got a long way to go."
Metzl said the majority of his donors were from the Kansas City area.
Metzl, who has lived in Washington for years, working in the White House and on Capitol Hill, recently moved back to Kansas City, his hometown, to challenge McCarthy. He is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. |
