DescriptionKDKA Channel 2 article.

An excerpt...
"It's a story that's taken on a life of its own, with Web sites and bloggers dissecting Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's appearance at a private event hosted by American Express last April.

KDKA first aired the story Monday and now a video produced by American Express confirms Ravenstahls presence on the course at the $900 per person event hosted for 82 American Express Club Card members who were delighted and surprised to get golf lessons from Tiger Woods.

In a Newstalk 1020 KDKA radio appearance on Fred Honsberger's show, the Mayor denied he crashed a private party.

"If somebody would have told me at Oakmont I wasn't welcome or not to come in I would have turned around and left," Ravenstahl said during the interview.

But KDKA sources maintain that the Mayor invited himself to the club in the first place. Once there, the club and event sponsors could have had the Mayor thrown out but chose instead to let him stay as long as he did not interfere with Tiger Woods.

"I was certainly told that it was an American Express party and it was for their patrons and not to approach Tiger and not to ask him for an autograph and not to impose myself on the party and I didn't do that," Ravenstahl told Honsberger.

In a telephone conversation with KDKA's Jon Delano, Ravenstahl says he stands by his version of events saying: "As mayor, I know I will be unfairly criticized and sometimes the media gets it right and sometimes the media gets it wrong."
