Description | Baltimore's first female mayor announced today that she will seek election to the seat she took when Gov. Martin O'Malley left the office, telling supporters the city's problems are well known and "the time for talking has come to an end."
Dixon took office in January faced with a rising murder rate and under a cloud from a state investigation into her involvement in companies that employed her sister and campaign chairman. A city ethics board cleared her of ethics violations and she has since weathered a number of challenges, including the death of fire department trainee, 130 murders in less than six months, and a city blaze that claimed eight lives. |
