An excerpt...
"Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama jumped into the city's crowded mayoral race Monday, throwing his support and name recognition behind U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah.

Once the front-runner, Fattah has slipped in recent polls behind a businessman who has spent millions of his own fortune on a constant stream of TV advertising.

Obama is the second high-profile national Democrat to be featured in the Fattah campaign. One of his commercials shows then-President Clinton commending him at the signing of a bill that created a grant program to help low-income students attend college.

In an e-mail sent to Fattah's supporters, Obama asked for financial contributions to help Fattah in the final week before the Democratic primary.

"To win this election, Chaka doesn't need to match the other candidates dollar-for-dollar, but he does need a strong push this week," Obama said. "Your contribution can make the difference."
