Description | SOUTH PINETTE, P.E.I. -- There will be a provincial election in Prince Edward Island on May 28.
Premier Pat Binns, in typically understated fashion, made the announcement at his nomination meeting at an elementary school in South Pinette, P.E.I.
The call comes as no surprise since Binns, Canada's longest-serving premier, has been saying for months that he would seek a fourth term in office.
His Progressive Conservative government has been in power since 1996, thanks largely to the enduring popularity of Binns, a soft-spoken bean farmer originally from Weyburn, Sask. |
