| Description | Every year a handful of Louisiana lawmakers attempt — and always fail — to establish a minimum wage in this state.
But that could change in 2007, Democrats said Wednesday.
Baton Rouge Sen. Cleo Fields and Monroe Rep. Willie Hunter say a confluence of election results and national trends could lead previously unreceptive Louisiana legislators to increase the hourly rate for the 42,000 workers in this state being paid the minimum wage. |
