Long-suffering Democrats have finally seized most countywide offices.
Judging from political trends that have been in place for eight years, Democrats could be the county's dominant political players for years to come.
That's because the overall Democratic vote in Dallas County has been growing at an average of at least 2 percentage points since 1998.
Political analysts say that when the next countywide elections occur in 2008, the Democratic vote could swell to an average of 55 percent of all the votes cast.
That would mean Republicans, out of power for the first time in nearly 20 years, could be in store for a long period as the county's minority party. |
