Description | "As Camden settles into fifth place in the Most Dangerous Cities sweepstakes, the city's leaders and residents are asking whether it can stay out of the top slot.
Yesterday, a day after The Inquirer first reported that Camden would lose its two-year crown as America's Most Dangerous City, law enforcement and city officials gathered on the steps of the Camden Police Administration Building to vow that crime would continue to go down.
The most dangerous label, awarded by the Morgan Quitno research firm, turned into a curse that kicked a city struggling to stand after years of decline.
"We're not ready to crack the cork yet," said Mayor Gwendolyn A. Faison. "But, for once, I could say the city of Camden has one united voice and no one is stopping us. We got things rolling.""
