DescriptionWAUWATOSA -- A small group of organizers and attendees of a 5th Senate District candidate forum paid a visit to the West Allis home of Sen. Tom Reynolds Thursday night to express their discontent with the fact the Republican incumbent refused to attend a debate earlier that evening.

Reynolds said he didn’t attend the debate with Democratic challenger Jim Sullivan out of concern that possible footage of the event would be used against him in an attack ad.

Event organizer Dave McGinnis of Saint Therese Catholic Church in Wauwatosa, the site of the debate, told Reynolds “we missed you tonight,” and handed him a stack of letters signed by debate attendees.

Reynolds, who had just come out from working in the shop behind his house, greeted the group cordially and, after discussing an Oct. 4 debate he is organizing at his church, explained he didn’t attend because he wasn’t guaranteed that Sullivan allies who might be trying to film him would be asked to leave.
