DescriptionIowa Davenport Democrat Bill Gluba says he's dropped plans to run as an independent in eastern Iowa's First District.

Instead, Gluba says he has endorsed Waterloo lawyer Bruce Braley, who won a narrow victory in a hotly contested primary.

Gluba says he considered running as an independent because he thought the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee treated his campaign unfairly when he ran both in 2004 and 2006.

It's a move that could have drained some Democratic voters and potentially tossed the edge to Republicans in a First District race is likely to be one of the hottest in the nation.
