Description | In its golden era of the 1970's to the 1990's, the Suffolk County Republican Party was courted by presidents. Its lopsided election-night tallies were the envy of politicians across the state and nation. It was home to the State Assembly speaker, who ran for governor. Except for an occasional Democratic upset, it had a lock on local offices. |
