Description | Councilman Ben Arredondo campaigns for re-election as if he's at the bottom of the heap.
At candidate forums, the former football and wrestling coach injects game-day passion into every response, even politically low-wattage issues. In fund-raising, he has outdistanced the other four candidates. At last count, he raised about $105,000 in addition to $47,000 that was already in his war chest. His supersized campaign signs, which trumpet endorsements from police officers and firefighters, blanket many intersections.
"I am very privileged to serve on the City Council," said Arredondo, 58. "I don't ever want people to think that it's not a privilege." |
