Description | PHOENIX -- A financial adviser pulled himself out of consideration Thursday for the Republican bid for governor.
Keith DeGreen said in a statement that his wife, Lynn, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. DeGreen said while her prognosis is good, she faces a year of difficult treatment.
Thursday's announcement leaves former state Senate President John Greene as the only Republican who wants to take on incumbent Democrat Janet Napolitano in next year's election. But Greene has come under attack from some of the party's social conservatives -- including DeGreen -- because he supports equal rights for gays as well as the right of a woman to an abortion. |
