Description | The winner in this primary contest will be heavily favored to be the 13th's first representative. This district – which runs through rural areas on the state's north central border with Virginia, then dips down to take in urban and suburban parts of Raleigh and Greensboro – was drawn by the Democratic-controlled state Legislature to help the Democratic nominee win the seat.
State Sen. Brad Miller and former one-term Rep. Robin Britt (1983-85) are considered the front-runners in the race. Miller has had a lead in most polls, though Britt has attempted to chip away at his base. |
