Description | The riding is located in the SE corner of B.C., on the border with Alberta in the east and the U.S. border in the south.
Cranbrook, in the western part of riding, is a major transportation and administration centre for the East Kootenay region; other major communities in riding include Elkford, Sparwood and Fernie; Cassimayooks (Mayook) IR5, Bummers Flat IR6, Tobacco Plains IR2 and St. Mary's IRs 1 and 1A are also here.
The aboriginal population in the 2006 census was 6.5%.
In the 2008 distribution, the riding kept all of East Kootenay and added 1% of Columbia River-Revelstoke. |
