Description | This district is a mix of urban, suburban and rural, with the amalgamated community of Cornwall (pop. 4,412) being the major centre. As well as being a bedroom community for Charlottetown, Cornwall has a major retail centre of its own, but its future is in question because the facility relies, to some degree, on traffic from the Trans-Canada Highway, which passes through the centre of the town. There is talk of diverting the highway because traffic in the area is considered to be at dangerous levels.
This district once included the area directly south of the West River, including New Dominion, Fairview and Rice Point. |
